3 Ways To Start A Business Right From Your Own Home

3 Ways To Start A Business Right From Your Own Home

There are countless of home based business opportunities on the Internet. They promise you a lot of hype, but very few of them can deliver. The truth is, that like anything else in life, you have got to put serious work and time into a home based business. Anyone that tells you otherwise is only out to get your money.

But there is a way to be in business for yourself and it doesn’t have to take an eternity to do it. The most obvious way to short cut the learning curve of getting into a home based business for yourself is to copy what others are doing that are already in business. A kit or DVD or ebook by itself can be a huge stepping stone to helping you start a home based business, but in order to keep it going, you have got to search deeper than just that.

So how do you start a home based business? Here are 3 key factors;

1. Figure out what kind of business you want. It needs to be something you can find happiness in doing. If you positively hate the work you’re going to be doing in your new business or if it is boring, it is going to be very hard to get it running and making you a profit. Do something that is fun!

2. Keep it simple. For starters, keep your plan and business simple, and then add upon it as you progress. There are all kinds of businesses that you can start, but are they simple to implement? Can you begin it today?

3. Start from where you are now. Whatever business you want to start, see if you can start that business from your current job now. For example, if you’re wanting to start a cleaning business, you could begin to offer your employer cleaning services. You can also offer cleaning services to the suppliers that provide products and services to your employer.

These are just fundamental guidelines to help you in getting into your own home based business. At some point, you will need to inform yourself on how to start. But you need to be balanced and know that no matter what kind of ebook or kit you buy, you are the key ingredient to success. You will need to continuously work at it until you’ve got it up and running. You may be asking yourself what kind of home based business is simple and quick to start without a lot of hassle?

One of simplest and most lucrative businesses is the cleaning business. Believe it or not, every business needs cleaning. And they will pay you great money to do it. Best of all, cleaning doesn’t require fancy equipment or university degrees. You probably already have most of the tools needed to clean a basic office in your home right now!

The good thing about an office cleaning business is that you can get started with a basic vacuum cleaner, broom, Windex, trash bags, mop and a few cleaning fluids.

Start Your Own Money Making Online Home Business

Start Your Own Money Making Online Home Business

Tired of working the nine-to-five job? Tired of your boss? Tired of working to make someone else rich? Want to work at home so you can be with your family more? Do you like the Internet?

Some of those questions are the titles to spam emails you get. They offer get rich schemes, just fill out surveys and get paid, get paid just to surf the web, get paid to shop, etc. etc.

But what is the real scoop about starting my own Internet Business from home? In this article we will help you learn some of the facts about owning your own home business based on the web. We will tell you how to avoid the hype and tell you the straight facts about how to start and maintain your own Internet Business. Are you ready?

You have all probably read many stories about how people with nothing have become millionaires on the web. You have no doubt received tons of spam email promising you that the same thing can happen to you, all you have to do is buy this ebook, this software, sign up as a member, etc. etc.

Multi-Level-Marketing or MLM programs were around before the Internet was in everyone’s home, but since then they have boomed. There are many programs that offer to “get you in on the ground floor”. All you have to do is sign up and those who sign up after you will make you rich.

Most of these are actually pyramid schemes. If the primary goal is to recruit new members and not to sell products, then it is likely a scam, so beware of those.

The first thing you should know about starting any business is that it is hard work. You think your boss was bad? Wait until you are your boss.

For some reason many people think that while starting an offline business is hard work, starting one on the web is easy. I really don’t understand that philosophy, except for the fact we get so many emails promising to make you rich with little or no work at all.

Let me tell you this. When you start any business, whether it’s a store, a gas station, or whatever, you know you will have to go in everyday, put in long hours and be smart if you are going to become successful. It is no different when starting an online or home business. If you are not prepared to put in the hours and the work, you will not be any more successful online than you would be offline.

There are no shortcuts, no magic pills, no marketing plans that can make you rich online without hard work. If you are not prepared to put in the time and the work necessary to any successful business, do not quit your day job and just continue to be a consumer surfing the web instead of trying to find a way to get rich without work.

That may sound harsh to you, but the web is full of people trying to get something for nothing and we don’t need any more of those. However, if you are a person who is willing to put in the time and effort, the web can be a great place to make your living.

How do you get started? Well, first of all, what are your passions? If you choose a business you do not have a lot of interest in, you will find it very difficult to stay motivated. Look at things that interest you when deciding what type of online business you want to have.

Not all online businesses require having a website, but most do, so we are going to start there. Lets say you have chosen what you are going to sell, whether it is products, services, or promoting affiliate programs.

You will need a domain name. The first thing people think is that they should have a catchy name that equals the name of their business and that it should be their domain name. Not true. Generic domain names that contain keywords that describe your products or services are best. Your company name will be on the front page of your website, but the domain name is what people will remember and what will help people find you through the search engines.

Where do I register my domain name? There are many low cost registrars out there for registering domain names, but don’t go with the cheap ones. You get what you pay for. Go with the ones that provide you the most service. Do you really think saving $20 per YEAR on your domain name is going to make or break your business? If so, stop now, do not pass go, go back to your day job.

Now you have a domain name, now what? You will need hosting for the new website you are going to build or have built. Again, look for the hosting that provides you the most service. You want 24-hour tech support. You want a lot of space, but most of all you want a lot of bandwidth. You want easy access to your files and a control panel, not just ftp access.

You also want a host who provides a lot of extras like “instant install” of gallery managers, content managers, calendar programs, and other scripts for forums, blogs, and more. The more they offer, the better, because you don’t know where your business might lead you. A cheap host is just that, a cheap host.

Now you will need a website to put up on the host. You can buy a website on Ebay or from others that are already built and ready to go or you can have one built to your specifications. You can also learn to build your own website and save money, but make sure you research how to do this very well before you choose that option.

Strengthening a website that is not optimized for the search engines or one that does not function or navigate easily will hurt your business, so if you are not ready to build one you are sure will work, have the work done or buy one.

Also, people have the perception that their website must be beautiful in order to be successful. They think they must have flashy introductions, databases, dynamic content, great graphics, etc. etc.

None of those things I just mentioned will help you become successful on the web. They are great to have, but do not put undue importance on the dressing. Promoting your website will be the key to it’s success along with the content that is in your website. Those are the things you will focus on if you wish to have a successful online business.

On building your website or buying one, make sure that it has a lot of text content rich with keywords that apply to the products or services you will be selling. You want it to have a professional look and feel, but you don’t need it to be too flashy.

There are a lot of freelance websites out there where you can post the job you want done and people will bid on doing the job for you. That is a good way to find a web designer that wants to do a good job for a competitive price.

Now you have your domain name, your hosting, and your new website. What now? Well, it’s not like in the movie Field of Dreams, where If you build it, they will come. That does not apply to websites unfortunately.

You will need to promote your website. This is where the work starts. This is what will demand the most of your time, because if you do not promote your website, the customers will never come buy anything. They will not be able to find you out of the millions of websites that are out there.

You have to be better than the next guy. You have to be willing to market your website for more hours than the next guy. And you have to beat the next guy to the latest and greatest methods of website promotion.

There are several things you will be doing with your new website. First and foremost, you will be writing articles like this one about the products and services you sell and topics related to them. You will also spend time submitting these articles to websites that offer free content to webmasters.

A lot of website owners are hungry for good original content. They go to these content providers and pull articles related to their products and services and put those articles into their websites. Since your article, like the one I am writing here, has an author bio section at the bottom with links to your website, every website owner that inserts your article into their website is now another website that links to you.

That increases your link popularity, which in turn helps you get better listings in search engine results for your keywords. Writing at least one article everyday will move you up in the search engine rankings before you know it. This is my fourth article for the day, just to give you an idea of how much I’m willing to promote my website.

You can also post a lot on blogs and forums that are related to your products or services. In the signature line you put a link to your website. In this subtle way you not only create another website that has a link to your website, but by participating in the forum or blog you may just have users there want to see your website and might want to buy your product or services.

You also want to put your link in your email, on your business cards, on your letterhead, and anywhere else you can. Having your own business, whether online or offline is a way of life, not a nine to five job. So be sure you are ready to do whatever it takes to be successful. Because if you are not ready to work harder than you ever have before, having your own business is not for you.

Thanks for reading and best of luck in your money making quests!

5 Simple Steps to Small Business Success on the Internet!

5 Simple Steps to Small Business Success on the Internet!

For years, the website design market used to fall into three separate entities for website design and development: (i) graphics and animation studios, specializing in custom graphic design and creative animations, (ii) website marketing/promotion firms, (iii) Web programming companies specializing in database-driven website development.  Nowadays, however, you get to see a fusion of these three entities in several dynamic Web Development and Promotion companies operating from any part of the globe.  These web design, development and web promotion firms are virtually all-rounders that cater to a diverse range of clientele, include those coming up for creative web design, web databases CRM / ERP as well as for SEO (search engine optimization) needs.

Most small business firms all over the world heavily rely on the services of such web development firms as they usually cater to small business website design by providing web based marketing methods that small companies can afford due to small budgets. Depending on the effectiveness of such web-based marketing, clients often see incredible successful results from clicks to conversion. There are some case studies which show that utilizing their marketing equation; some sites have gone from 10 leads a month to 300 leads. However, to achieve this is easier said than done. Web marketing firms that create a full plan for their clients using both the strategic and tactical methods crafted by specialists/consultants in turn are able to give small or large businesses increased sales. After all, that is the reason one can zero down on in order to be in a business, right? To have more sales and offer value. Therefore, the objective behind any web development or website promotion project is to create a unique selling proposition through your website that can set you apart from your competition so your customers should only think of doing business with you, regardless of price.

Small business firms today look forward to the professional creative website design and strategic web development and web promotion companies for the simple reason that they want their site to have the look and usability of a Fortune 500 company site without having to spend huge bucks for it. Yes, it is definitely considered a plus if the website is designed as a tactical marketing tool that aims to engage and educate their clients in turn. And most of these businesses have a concern in their minds: can their web site provide a means to gather analytical data for them to offer better service for all?

Yes, definitely they can. However, for this, optimal, effective website design strategies need to be incorporated. In a word, small business clients should be enriched with at least some of these features in order to fetch more conversions:

* Cutting-edge small business website design, tailor-made to provide broad market exposure of the products and services to potential clients.
* Highly scalable digital website designs, aimed at boosting up the growth and realization of the full perspective of the small business houses.
* Small business website design strategies including full-featured e-commerce solutions, to help these businesses deploy cost-effective, powerful e-commerce stores.
* Customized search engine optimization services, based upon individual needs and goals.

However, there are umpteen so-called 'cheap, quick' solution-providers, and any small business firm must think twice before taking the plunge with them. Ideally, one should always trust a professional web development firm that gathers relevant information about their clients' business through hours of discussion, clear up ideas about the requirement, nature and goal of the clients' business. Based on these details, experienced, skilled web designers and developers carry out extensive research to find out the best small business website solution. On the other hand, creative, innovative content writers create specific and unique content for small business website requirements, thereby enhancing business prospects. Finally, website maintenance and search engine optimization techniques that comprise scientifically proven techniques available at a competitive price are sure to give your business a boost. Flash Presentation, Multimedia Presentation, Multi-lingual website development and E-Commerce integration solutions complement these customized website solutions for brightening the online and even the offline image of small business firms.

The Five Steps to Success:

To ensure success of your small business through a unique website presentation, it is important that you develop a five-step process for creating websites that meet your customer's goals. Whether it is a small business firm eager to generate leads, sell online, provide information about their services, connect their vendors to their company electronically, or start an entirely new kind of service, this five-step process not only takes them from concept to completion, but also is the trademark of any Internet development company. Consulting: Every website starts with an idea. Perhaps you've been thinking about developing a website, or redesigning your existing site. At the consulting stage, a professional website development firm would strive to clear all doubts about the clients' requirements. Consultation for this usually comes free in case of small to medium-sized businesses.

Website Design: After the initial consultation, the website development firm solidifies the clients' ideas by creating a blueprint for their site by employing something they call "Strategic Design".

Website Development: The website development project is then handled by a creator' hive, composed of specialists who handle their own respective pieces of the site development. Remember, for successful website development, it is necessary to be handled by a versatile team of expert graphic artists, content writers, programmers, database specialists and technical personnel. This ensures that a qualified professional handles each task of the given project.

Web Hosting: Since websites are an intricate interplay of graphics, text, programming and computer resources, building your site on a rock-solid web hosting foundation is critical to its marketing success.

Website Maintenance: Once the site is available to the public, it must be maintained with the help of ongoing updates and continued development to the site so that they don't give clients/visitors of the site a chance to complain about its quality and content.

What To Do When Prospects Give You The "Silent Treatment"

What To Do When Prospects Give You The "Silent Treatment"

If you’ve been selling for a while, you’ve probably had at least one experience in which your prospect suddenly started giving you the "silent treatment."

Anthony described this dilemma very poignantly when he called me a few weeks ago:
"Artie, I don’t know what to do when I get hit with the ‘silent treatment’ -- you know, when I’ve worked with a prospect for quite a while, and we’ve had great conversations, and they've expressed interest in our solution -- and then all of a sudden everything stops.

I try calling them back once or twice. I even send a follow-up e-mail, but nothing. They just disappear. And I figure I’ve lost the sale, and I don’t know what I did wrong, or what to do next. It makes selling feel like such a painful and arduous process."

If this has happened to you, you may have felt anxious and confused. You may have told yourself, "It’s not as if I’m the one who did anything wrong. I put everything into the relationship. How can I rescue the sale if I can’t even get them to talk to me?"

The "Hopeium" Trap

There is a pressure-free way to reestablish communication when your prospect starts giving you the "silent treatment." But first, it’s important to understand why the situation has happened in the first place.

Most of us who sell get caught up in "hopeium," a comical term that means we focus our hopes and desires on making the sale. But hopeium can be a trap, because it's impossible for you to keep in mind your most important goal: to learn your prospect’s truth.

When we fix our minds on the outcome -- making the sale -- we automatically begin anticipating how the process will go, and we also begin expecting that things will happen as we hope they will.
But if we’re in that mindset and our prospect suddenly breaks off communication, we feel lost, anxious, frustrated, discouraged, and confused. We become preoccupied with what went wrong.  We may even feel betrayed.

Is there any way to clear up the mystery?

Yes, by giving up your agenda and learning the truth about where you stand with your prospect --and being ok with whatever the truth may be. "But how can I learn the truth when they’re avoiding me?" you may ask. "And why do I need to let go of the sale?"

Let’s take the second question first.

If you approach your prospect while you still hope the sale will happen, you’ll introduce sales pressure into the relationship. This will push your prospect away from you and destroy any trust you have developed with them. Instead, you can eliminate sales pressure by telling them that you’re okay with their decision if they’ve decided not to move forward.

In other words, you take a step back instead of trying to chase and follow up with calls because you’re focused on getting a "yes."

$1,148.00 In One Day Working with Plants? You Betcha!

$1,148.00 in One Day Working with Plants?   You Betcha!

This article is actually an example of a simple yet, excellent marketing plan.  Pay close attention to how I went out and found new business at a time of the year when things are normally slow, and not only did I make $1,148.00, my friend Franky also made $1,060.00.

Because I chose to keep myself out of the rat race of landscaping new homes, I went after a market that was more of an impulsive type market.  New home landscaping is almost a necessity, since new homes don’t have any shrubs or grass.  Not only that, many housing developments actually require people to have their landscaping done within a certain number of months from the time they move into their new homes.  Therefore, when the house is done, people are anxious to get it landscaped.

Since I wasn’t in that market, and most impulsive gardening decisions are made in the spring, my business typically slowed down during the very hot summer months.  So one year I decided to do a little test marketing, to see if I could muster up some work during the summer.

I decided to do a test mailing to 350 homeowners in an area where I knew the people could afford landscaping services, but were not extremely rich.  I mailed a letter to these 350 homes, and the letter basically said I could help them with any landscaping project that needed done, and because my business was slow during the summer I could give them a really fair price.

Of the 350 people that received the letter 3 called me.  I immediately sold two jobs, and the third job was still open for discussion.  On one of the first two jobs I made about $350. and on the other I made about $700.  That’s net profit.  That’s how much I got to keep. Since the mailing cost less than $175., my immediate profit on the mailing was $875.  Not bad at all considering this was only a part-time business for me.  But don’t forget about that third caller.  I had not even met this person yet.

The reason he called is because he happened to own a 60-unit apartment building in the Cleveland area, and he needed some trees or shrubs planted around the parking lot.  The architect that he had been working with suggested Taxus Hicksi, which is an evergreen that is easily trimmed and maintained to a certain size.  However, all the landscapers he had spoken with in Cleveland wanted about $44.00 each to install these plants.  Although a fair price, that amounted to $4,664.00 because he needed 106 plants.

He contacted me because he was hoping I could find a less expensive plant to use. After visiting the job site I realized that Taxus Hicksi actually was about the best choice for this situation, so I told him I would see if I could get a better price on the plants.  I showed in a wholesale catalog that the wholesale price was $22.00 per plant, but mentioned that I might be able to find another source.

I knew that my friend Franky did at one time grow this particular plant, so I gave him a call.  Turns out he did have 106 plants available, and was anxious to move some of them, he quoted me $10.00 each, balled in burlap. I called my customer and told him that I found good plants at a lower price, and that I could actually deliver and plant them for $22.00 per plant, which is exactly half of what others had quoted him.  He was delighted, and I did the job.  As a matter of fact, he actually asked me to install some additional plants while I was there.

I hired 3 guys to help me do the job, and we had it done in one day.  After I paid for the plants, and paid my help, I actually made $1,148.00 on that one-day job.  My customer was so happy with the work we did that he asked me to come back the following week and do about another $700.00 worth of work.  I made another $350.00 the following spring he hired me to re-landscape an older home that he had purchased, and I made another $600.00.

Remember the $175.00 that I spent to mail those 350 letters?  The net profit on that mailing turned out to be about $2,973.00!!!  And my friend Franky picked up $1,060.00 for the plants I bought from him. Were these 350 people I selected special?  No they weren’t.  Every town in America has at least 350 people just like them, probably thousands more.

Thanks for reading!

Two Business's You Can Start From Home For Less Than $100

Two Business's You Can Start From Home For Less Than $100

While working from home is the quintessential American dream, financing the entrepreneurial spirit has the potential to quickly turn into the prototypical nightmare.  There are many factors to consider such as equipment to be purchased, licenses or permits to be applied for, and a fair amount of advertising that needs to be bought and paid for.  Some entrepreneurs have resorted to desperate acts of financial gymnastics, but more often than not these are too dangerous to contemplate.  Yet even in light of this bleak picture, did you know that there are two home based businesses you can start with less than $75?

For example, if you have a talent with a needle and thread, fabrics are your world, if your eye for colors, patterns and material rarely steers you wrong, then becoming a seamstress and freelance fashion designer may be right up your alley!  The odds are good that you already own a sewing machine, or, if you still stitch by hand, a well-equipped sewing kit.  Take $75 and put together a professional looking portfolio of your work and print up some business cards.  Include in the portfolio pictures of your niece’s first communion dress you made, your daughter’s holiday outfit, the dolls’ clothes you might have put together and anything else that you have crafted as a gift or simply created in your spare time.  Bring this portfolio to bridal shops, dry cleaners, and other places where clothing alterations may be needed. Start a website and advertise handmade dolls’ clothing or whatever other garments you want to make. As the profits begin coming in, gradually upgrade your equipment.

If you cannot tell a sewing needle from a knitting needle, do not worry. If you know your way around the kitchen, you may have a promising career as a caterer ahead of you.  Begin by catering small events for your friends or family.  As you gain exposure for your business, do not plan on making a lot of money right off the bat.  Instead focus on having the cost of the food paid for and perhaps make a little extra to put toward advertising.  Prepare beautiful spreads that stand out.  Take copious pictures, ask your friends for some quotes of praise, and put together a professional portfolio.  Print up business cards and spend $75 to advertise in local advertising directories.  Start out small but try for the slightly larger events, such as wedding receptions, the church picnic, or your spouse’s company party.  Be sure to check your local state laws to see if caterers need to be registered and licensed.  The trick to this business is the gradual development of a clientele and the word of mouth advertising that will cause your business to grow by leaps and bounds.

Even as starting your own home based business may seem complicated and might even appear to be out of reach, remember that by deliberately graduated growth, you will have the chance to make it big in workable steps – none of which require large amounts of funds to get started!
